AI agents for health system patient access and outreach, more than 20 of them each owning one job, answering only from a knowledge graph of the organization's approved sources and acting inside Epic and other EHRs, with every answer traceable to its source.

Hyro, founded in 2018 at Cornell Tech, sells Care OnCue, a platform of AI agents for health systems, payers and their contact centers. More than 20 Agents OnCue each own one job, from routing and answers to appointments, registration, scheduling, prescriptions, referrals, billing, coverage and IT password resets and tickets, and they answer patient calls and chats around the clock. Outbound OnCue runs campaigns for reminders, overdue care, open referrals and bills. Every agent runs on ACE, Hyro's engine, which pairs a small language model of its own for reading intent with large language models for phrasing, and answers only from a knowledge graph of sources the customer approves.

Teams keep that knowledge current in Knowledge Studio, set response overrides and clinical protocols, and anything outside them goes to a person with the conversation attached. The agents work inside Epic, Oracle Health, athenahealth, MEDITECH, eClinicalWorks and NextGen, and in Salesforce, ServiceNow and the major contact center platforms. Care Intelligence scores every conversation for adherence, hallucinations and sentiment, and each answer can be traced to the sources behind it. Hyro holds SOC 2 Type II, reports $95M in funding and sells through a demo.

Epic (Cadence scheduling, order based scheduling, referrals, Willow prescriptions, In Basket refill and renewal requests, and Cheers outreach segments), Oracle Health, athenahealth (including athenaCommunicator), eClinicalWorks, MEDITECH and NextGen. Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, Kyruus Health, symplr and Gozio Health. Contact center and telephony through Genesys, Five9, Cisco and Webex, NICE, Avaya, RingCentral, Amazon Connect and Twilio, over SIP, vXML and PSTN.

In practice

Your call center is swamped with scheduling calls. Hyro's Appointments and Scheduling agents book, confirm, reschedule and cancel visits in Epic under your existing scheduling rules, around the clock, and pass anything unusual to staff with the conversation attached.

Patients keep calling about prescriptions. Prescriptions OnCue pulls each patient's active prescriptions live from Epic, so no one needs an Rx number, and sends refill and renewal requests to the prescriber's In Basket without anyone on your team touching the call.

Patients miss follow ups and referrals go unscheduled. Outbound OnCue reaches them by voice and text before an appointment is missed, with reminders, overdue care outreach and help booking the specialty visit.

Your team needs to know why an agent gave a wrong answer. Care Intelligence scores every conversation, staff can drill down to the logic and sources behind each response, and the knowledge behind it can be corrected in Knowledge Studio.

Integrations & Tool Calling Full

In Epic, agents book, reschedule and cancel inside Cadence, run order based scheduling and complete referrals, pull a patient's active prescriptions live from Willow, and send refill and renewal requests to the prescriber's In Basket. Outbound campaigns run against Epic Cheers segments, and Hyro is listed on Epic's AI Agent Showroom.

Hyro also connects to Oracle Health, athenahealth (including athenaCommunicator), eClinicalWorks, MEDITECH and NextGen, to Salesforce and ServiceNow, to Genesys, Five9, Cisco, NICE, Avaya, RingCentral, Amazon Connect and Twilio, and to Microsoft Teams, Kyruus Health, symplr and Gozio Health.

Workflow Orchestration Partial

Each Agent OnCue owns one workflow made of several healthcare tasks. ACE, the engine behind every agent, holds context across a multi step request and hands a caller to staff with the conversation attached. Hyro names no workflow builder, branching the customer configures or handoff from one agent to another.

Knowledge Grounding & RAG Full

ACE answers through retrieval over a knowledge graph of the sources the customer approves, covering providers, specialties, locations, services, scheduling logic and an internal knowledge base, with a healthcare policy layer on top. Teams update that content in Knowledge Studio without a development cycle. Agents answer only from approved sources, never from open ended generation.

Human Oversight & Guardrails Partial

Anything beyond the protocols a team sets goes to a person, and human in the loop and transfer are named escalation paths. Teams set response overrides and clinical protocols, and refill and renewal requests go to the prescriber's inbox in the EHR rather than being decided by the agent. Hyro names no step of its own where a person approves an agent action before it commits.

Security, Identity & Governance Partial

Hyro holds SOC 2 Type II and states HIPAA, CCPA and GDPR compliance and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility. Personal data is redacted, and patient data is processed under BAAs with zero retention terms. Identity rules decide who can act for a patient, such as a guardian or caregiver. Hyro names no SSO, roles or permission model for the customer's own staff.

Observability & Auditability Full

Guardrails record conversation logs, the sources cited in each answer and performance metrics to the Care Intelligence dashboard, and the actions agents take are logged too. Staff can drill from a trend down to a single conversation and the logic behind each response. Care Intelligence also reports trending topics and the missing terms that point to knowledge gaps.

Memory & State Persistence Partial

ACE keeps context through every turn of a conversation and across a multi step request, and a handoff to staff carries the conversation with it. A memory system is named among ACE's parts, but Hyro does not say what it keeps about a patient or for how long.

Deployment & Data Residency Not documented

Every data processing subcontractor is in the United States, including Azure, Snowflake, MongoDB, Twilio and Datadog, and support comes from Hyro's affiliate in Israel. Data processing stays in that single region. Hyro names no region choice, customer environment or on premises option.

Prebuilt Agents, Templates & Packs Full

More than 20 Agents OnCue each own one job, among them Routing, Answers, Providers, Appointments, Registration, Scheduling, Prescriptions, Referrals, Billing, Coverage, Passwords and Tickets, and they deploy into the systems the customer already runs. Outbound OnCue adds ready campaigns for reminders, overdue care, open referrals and billing.

Sourcehyro.ai/platform/inbound-agents-oncueread 2026-10-21

Triggers & Channel Coverage Full

Inbound agents answer patient calls and chats around the clock, and no staff member has to start them. Outbound campaigns run on timing and status, such as an upcoming appointment, a prescription about to run out, a bill coming due or an open referral, across voice and digital channels.

Sourcehyro.ai/platform/outbound-agents-oncueread 2026-10-21

Model Flexibility & Routing Partial

ACE runs a small language model of Hyro's own, trained on patient access language, to read intent first, then draws on large language models for understanding and phrasing. Hyro picks the models, with Azure AI services and Anthropic's Claude web search among its subprocessors, and the customer does not choose them.

APIs, SDKs & MCP Extensibility Not documented

Hyro connects to telephony over SIP, vXML and PSTN and syncs both ways with EHR, CRM and contact center systems. Hyro names no API, SDK or MCP server for building on it.

Testing, Debugging & Optimization Full

Every interaction is scored and flagged for quality concerns, including adherence to the team's protocols, hallucinations, harm and patient sentiment, and responses are checked for clinical bias. Teams see where conversations went off track and can update the knowledge behind them in Knowledge Studio.
