Hippocratic AI builds patient facing voice agents rather than clinician facing scribes, and is the category leader in autonomous patient engagement. Founded in 2023 in Palo Alto by Munjal Shah with a clinical founding team, the company raised a $141 million Series B in April 2025 at a $1.64 billion valuation and a $126 million Series C in November 2025, with 2026 trackers placing its valuation near $3.5 billion. Its agents handle non diagnostic patient work that consumes nursing time: post discharge follow up, medication adherence, preoperative instructions, chronic care check ins, cancer screening outreach, and benefits navigation, conducted over voice calls and text in more than 20 languages with sub 300 millisecond latency. The company reports more than 115 million clinical patient interactions, 50 plus health system, payer, and pharma partners, and average patient satisfaction of 8.7 out of 10.

The technical core is Polaris, a safety focused constellation architecture exceeding 4.1 trillion parameters in which a primary conversation agent is backed by specialist support agents for privacy and compliance, checklists, and medication safety, any of which can end a non compliant conversation. Safety is the whole thesis: agents are deliberately barred from diagnosis and prescribing, escalate to humans when clinical judgment is required, and pass a certification pipeline of automated evaluations, simulated call testing by a network of 6,237 nurses and 308 doctors, and customer sign off. Health systems choose from more than 300 prebuilt agents across 25 specialties or build their own with a no code Agent Trainer, and an AI Agent App Store lets licensed US clinicians create and monetize agents, earning 5 percent of the base rate plus 70 percent of any premium they set.

Pricing is usage based at $9 per agent hour, billed only for active agent time, a headline rate the company markets against a US registered nurse median near $39 an hour. The economics cut both ways: running one agent around the clock costs about $6,480 a month, and usage based billing makes budgets spike with call volume. For high volume outreach that human staffing cannot cover, the model is compelling; for organizations wanting predictable line items, it takes planning.
