Which AI agent platforms can be self hosted or run in your own VPC?
If the agent cannot run inside your boundary, most of the market is already out. Of 984 vendors, 270 document full deployment control, covering options such as dedicated cloud, virtual private cloud, on premise, hybrid, local runtime or self hosting. 396 document partial coverage and 318 document none.
Every vendor in the index is assessed against the same 14 point taxonomy from public documentation, and no vendor pays for placement. Counts on this page were measured across all 984 public vendors on August 10, 2026.
How the 984 vendors split
No public evidence means the reviewed sources did not document the capability. On this index that is a statement about the evidence, not proof that the capability is absent. See methodology.
What counts as full coverage
Full coverage means a documented deployment option beyond shared multi tenant software as a service, or a published data residency commitment naming regions. Partial usually means a single tenant tier available on the enterprise plan with no public detail. A vendor that only says enterprise options available scores partial at best.
How to read these numbers
This is the axis with the widest lane spread in the taxonomy, and it is a straight line to the buyer. Multi agent platforms at 58 percent, coding at 56 percent and agent infrastructure at 53 percent all sell to engineers who self host as a matter of course. GTM sits at 6 percent, the lowest rate on any axis in any lane: eight vendors out of 144. Healthcare at 12 percent is the number with real consequences, since that lane carries protected data by definition and is documenting less deployment control than any lane except GTM and customer support. If residency is a requirement, filter on this axis first and then look at capability, because doing it the other way round builds a shortlist you cannot buy.

Questions buyers ask
Does full coverage mean I can run it on my own hardware?
Not always. It means a documented option outside shared multi tenant hosting, which may be a virtual private cloud, a dedicated instance, a named region or a genuine self hosted build. Confirm which one before you plan the deployment.
Why is the GTM lane so low?
Because those tools are usually bought by revenue teams as hosted software and integrated with a hosted CRM, so nobody asks for a private deployment and nobody builds one. It is a demand pattern rather than a technical limit.
Is open source the same as self hosting?
Related but not identical. An open source project you can run yourself scores well here. A commercial product with an open source client does not, unless the runtime itself is documented as self hostable.
