Nintex

Nintex is a long established workflow automation and process management vendor that has repositioned around what it calls agentic business orchestration, announced as its strategic direction in September 2025. The agent capabilities arrived in March 2026 with Nintex Agent Designer and Nintex Orchestration, initially available to select customers natively in Nintex CE.

The architectural position is explicit and matches its BPM peers. Nintex blends deterministic execution, the structured rules based workflows it has always sold, with probabilistic agent driven AI, and states plainly that it does not consider these competing approaches but complementary tools inside the same platform, for control and intelligence rather than one or the other.

Nintex Orchestration is the more distinctive piece. It abandons the rigid start to finish workflow model for a modular, phase based approach in which processes can move forward, jump back and repeat steps as real world conditions demand, without starting over. That is a different shape from the linear pipelines most workflow tools enforce, and it is what allows agents to sit inside a process without breaking it.

Security and deployment are solid and well documented. Nintex holds SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 3 reports and a FedRAMP Moderate authorisation for Nintex Workflow and Nintex DocGen for Salesforce, runs on Microsoft Azure across seven regions, and is monitored around the clock by an external managed security provider through a SIEM. K2 brought built in AI to on premise environments for the first time in 2026, which matters for customers who need data sovereignty.

The honest limits are the AI specific axes. No agent memory model, model selection surface or agent evaluation tooling was documented anywhere in this pass, and the agent products themselves are only months old and still gated to select customers. This is a mature automation platform at an early stage of its agent build.
