Aera Technology
Also known as: Aera, Aera Decision Cloud, Decision Data Model, DDM, Cortex, Agentic Ambient Intelligence
Decision intelligence platform where an always on agent executes business decisions and records every one with its context and outcome, building a decision memory that governs where automation is safe to extend.
Aera Technology sells decision intelligence, a category it has been building since 2017 and which Gartner recognised with an inaugural Magic Quadrant in January 2026, naming Aera a Leader. Its platform, Aera Decision Cloud, is positioned as agentic decision intelligence: real time, always on, and able to execute decisions automatically rather than only recommending them.
The distinctive mechanism is decision memory. Aera captures every decision made in the organisation, whether by a human or by the system, along with its context, the actions taken and the outcome. That record becomes a closed feedback loop the platform learns from, so recommendations improve and the system learns not only how to decide better but when and where automation is safe to extend. Few vendors anywhere in this index document a persistence layer doing that job.
The rest of the architecture supports it. Agentic Ambient Orchestration combines structured and unstructured data, human expertise and agent reasoning through large language models, and agents are configured by prompting and guiding rather than by coding decision rules. The Decision Data Model unifies transactional, analytical, external, unstructured and IoT inputs across more than 100 subject areas. A Cortex engine supplies AutoML, forecasting and optimisation. Decision Engagement exposes all of it through natural language on chat, voice, desktop and mobile.
Oversight is a spectrum rather than a switch. Decision engines support advised, assisted and fully automated decisions, and Aera states that critical actions and high risk recommendations remain subject to human review and approval, while Gartner characterises the platform as audited decision automation that lets systems act while humans review afterwards.
The honest limits are assurance and extensibility. Aera describes its practices as consistent with ISO 27001 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and lists SOC 2 among the frameworks it follows, but no certification or attestation is claimed on either its trust centre or its security documentation, which is weaker than every peer in this category. No public API, SDK or MCP surface was retrieved, and deployment is cloud only.

Integrations
The Decision Data Model unifies transactional data, analytics, external sources, unstructured data and IoT inputs across more than 100 subject areas, which is the integration surface. A partner network spans consulting firms, technology platforms and data service providers. No public API reference, SDK family or MCP support was retrieved in this pass.
In practice
A consumer goods supply chain team lets the platform execute replenishment decisions automatically while reviewing the audit trail afterwards, rather than approving each one in advance.
A planning organisation captures the context and outcome of every decision so that expertise held by individual planners becomes queryable institutional knowledge when they move on.
An operations leader starts a decision type in advised mode, watches the decision memory accumulate outcomes, then promotes it to fully automated once the record supports it.

| Workflow OrchestrationAgentic Ambient Orchestration combines structured and unstructured data, human expertise and agent reasoning through LLMs inside decision processes, with agentic AI orchestrating SPECIALIZED AGENT TEAMS and a Cortex decision engine supplying AutoML, forecasting and optimisation; agents are configured by prompting rather than by coding decision rules. | Knowledge Grounding & RAGAll responses are grounded in the organisation governed enterprise data through a composite AI approach combining proprietary business logic, the Decision Data Model and large language models; agentic AI processes unstructured content including emails, PDFs, images, forms and sensor feeds with minimal performance impact. | Human Oversight & GuardrailsDecision engines support the full spectrum from ADVISED to ASSISTED to FULLY AUTOMATED per decision type, and Aera states that critical actions and high risk recommendations remain subject to human review and approval; Gartner characterises the platform as audited decision automation enabling systems to act while humans review afterwards, a retrospective review posture rather than a prospective gate. | Security, Identity & GovernanceALIGNMENT, NOT CERTIFICATION, AND THAT IS THE GRADE. A trust centre lists ISO 27001 and SOC 2 as frameworks Aera FOLLOWS and the security documentation says practices are CONSISTENT WITH best practices INCLUDING ISO 27001 and NIST CSF, but neither page claims a certification or attestation by name. Real controls are documented: VPC or VNET isolation, logical separation of customer data, RBAC, internal and external penetration testing, 72 hour breach notification, secure deletion with written confirmation, responsible disclosure, no training on customer data and stateless ephemeral LLM processing. Both first party pages were read, so this reflects vendor wording rather than failed retrieval. Aera trust centre and security and privacy documentation 2026-08-07 | Partial |
| Observability & AuditabilityThe Decision Data Model captures a full audit trail of every decision with context, rationale and outcome, and all prompts, responses and subsequent actions are encrypted, logged and fully traceable for compliance and governance purposes. Audit is the product mechanism here, not an add on. Aera trust centre and decision intelligence FAQ 2026-08-07 | Full |
| Memory & State PersistenceDECISION MEMORY is a named core mechanism: every decision, whether made by a human or by AI, is recorded with its context, rationale, actions taken and outcome, creating a closed feedback loop that improves accuracy and automation over time and teaches the system not only how to decide better but WHEN AND WHERE TO AUTOMATE. | Deployment & Data ResidencyThe service runs in a dedicated VPC or VNET with storage hosted by the applicable infrastructure-as-a-service cloud provider, which gives tenant isolation and some cloud choice, but no self hosted, on premise option and no published regional residency matrix were retrieved. | APIs, SDKs & MCP ExtensibilityNo public API reference, SDK family, developer portal or MCP support was retrieved from any Aera first party page. A partner network of consulting firms, technology platforms and data service providers exists but is a delivery channel rather than an extensibility surface. Honest absence. Pricing
Contact sales
not disclosed
Included quota
Not disclosed.
What is public
Nothing on price. The existence of a free Aera Developer offering is confirmed only indirectly, through an exclusion clause in the security documentation.
Billing mechanics
Not publicly disclosed. Sold direct and through a partner network, and also listed on the Microsoft Azure marketplace, which may offer a transactable route.
Cost watchouts
Delivery is partner led, so implementation and consulting cost is likely to be material alongside the licence and should be scoped separately. The security documentation explicitly excludes free evaluation services and Aera Developer from its security commitments, so anything built or tested on those does not carry the same contractual protections as the paid Service.
Variable cost rationale
Nothing commercial is published, so cost cannot be forecast from vendor pages at all, and scoping dominates: the platform integrates across more than 100 subject areas and is delivered through partners, so both licence scope and implementation effort are negotiated per customer. Marked high because the uncertainty is total rather than because a specific usage driver was identified.
Additional watchouts
Note that Aera security and privacy commitments explicitly do NOT apply to free evaluation services or Aera Developer. Do not evaluate on the free tier and assume the paid contractual protections carry over.
Overage / add-ons
Not disclosed.
Sales call required
Yes, required for paid access
Free / trial
Aera Developer is referenced in the security documentation as a separate free evaluation offering, but its scope and terms were not retrieved
Commercial notes
Private company. Named enterprise customers including Hershey, Estee Lauder, Kerry Group and Gallo indicate large account pricing rather than a self serve motion.
Key ambiguities
All commercial terms. No unit of account, tier structure or agent consumption metric was retrieved, so it is unknown whether decision volume, subject area coverage, user count or connected systems drives price.
Missing data
