Talkdesk
Also known as: talkdesk.com, Talkdesk Autopilot, Talkdesk CXA
Talkdesk sells Customer Experience Automation around Autopilot, a voice and digital service agent that delegates work to specialist agents, calls authenticated APIs and runs workflows across customer systems. Teams build the agent hierarchy visually, connect shared knowledge, apply authentication and response guardrails, and simulate conversations before launch. The automation can sit above another contact center through telephony connections and contextual handoffs. Commercial terms are quoted, and detailed production action traces remain limited to selected preview customers.
Talkdesk, Inc. sells Customer Experience Automation, or CXA, alongside its cloud contact center software. This record covers the customer service automation delivered through Autopilot and the AI Agent Platform. Companies can add that automation above an existing contact center instead of replacing the system their employees use. Calls enter Talkdesk through SIP trunks or telephone forwarding, and unresolved cases return to the original contact center with customer context. Autopilot handles voice and digital conversations, while Navigator supplies routing and triage.
The AI Agent Platform organizes an orchestration into a supervisor, optional routing agents and action agents. Only the supervisor speaks to the customer. Action agents plan tasks and invoke skills, while routing conditions select the appropriate specialist for each request. A skill can execute a workflow with branches and functions, call an API through Talkdesk Integrations, or invoke a tool on a customer hosted MCP server.
Builders configure authentication, inputs and outputs for API actions and choose which remote tools each agent receives. Knowledge Management supplies a shared store of business information, with segments and queues limiting the content available to each agent. Session variables carry information through the interaction, and a skill's result reaches other agents only when the action agent passes it upward. Default limits allow three hierarchy levels, ten agents per level and five skills per agent.
Operational controls include system guardrails that remain enabled, custom response boundaries, and an Authentication Gate that keeps sensitive skills unavailable until a deterministic verification variable is set. Supervisors can follow active conversations and review recordings afterward. Before publishing a change, builders run chat or voice simulations, supply application inputs, and replay scripted or AI generated customer scenarios while inspecting skill calls and routing.
Scored Agent Evaluation and the richer production Session History view are separate features restricted to select preview customers. Autopilot and the other CXA products are sold through tailored quotes, without a public unit rate or standard minimum on the CXA pricing page. SAML single sign on works with customer identity providers, and the certification set runs from SOC 2 and ISO 27001 to ISO 42001 for AI management. Customers can choose processing facilities in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia or the UK.
Talkdesk fits contact centers coordinating several service tasks, especially where an existing telephony estate needs to remain in place.
Banks, insurers, retailers, healthcare providers and travel and hospitality brands can start from an industry library of prebuilt agents and pilot one at a time, and the commercial and residential services offering adds prepared scheduling, billing and payment workflows for field service providers and franchise networks. Outside work runs through APIs and MCP tools, with no browser or desktop control.
Teams that want to pick the foundation model, keep a separate customer memory store, or read detailed production action traces before that view leaves preview will find those controls narrower than the workflow builder itself.

Integrations
Talkdesk Integrations defines external API endpoints, authentication, inputs and response mappings. Workflow skills combine actions, functions and branches. MCP skills call selected tools on customer hosted servers over Streamable HTTP with bearer or OAuth credentials. CXA connects to existing contact centers through SIP and passes escalation context through headers or APIs. Knowledge Management supplies agent retrieval.
In practice
A service provider connects scheduling and billing APIs so an agent can reschedule a visit, retrieve the balance and return the result within one customer conversation.
A contact center routes incoming calls to Autopilot over a SIP trunk and transfers unresolved cases back to its existing team with the customer's intent and interaction context.
A support operations team replays a cancellation scenario in the simulator after changing routing instructions, inspecting which skill ran and what the agent returned.

Supervisors follow live Autopilot sessions, read the exchanged messages and review recordings afterward from the History tab. The deeper AI Agent Observability view is a preview for select customers. Its Session History lists each session's channel, orchestrator, duration, outcome (completed, escalated, timeout, error or abandoned) and error count, filters on any of them and exports session data. Opening a session shows per turn latency, the workflows run with their inputs and outputs, warnings and errors, and a Thoughts panel tracing agent transitions and skill calls. At general availability the view moves into the CXA Operations Center. Sourcesupport.talkdesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/50075303588507--preview-ai-agent-observability-overviewread 2026-10-20 |

Conversation variables and application inputs carry customer context through an active orchestration. A skill's output initially belongs only to the action agent that invoked it; instructions must pass relevant results back to a parent agent for the rest of the hierarchy to use. Escalation carries collected context to the receiving contact center. The agent has no separate customer memory with its own retention and deletion controls across conversations. Hosted processing defaults to the United States, and customers can choose Talkdesk processing facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia or the United Kingdom to meet regional privacy requirements. Transfers out of the EEA, the UK and Switzerland run on standard contractual clauses and the Data Privacy Framework. CXA can sit above an existing cloud or on premises contact center through SIP trunks or telephone forwarding: calls travel to Talkdesk for automation and return to the original system on escalation, so the agent runtime itself always runs in Talkdesk's cloud. | Model Flexibility & Routing | Not documented |
|
Agentic Autopilot creation selects Talkdesk as the service provider and attaches a published AI Agent Orchestration. Builders control instructions, routing conditions, knowledge scopes and response guardrails, while voice settings govern language and speech delivery. No foundation model is named or offered for selection anywhere in this setup, and Talkdesk does not say which provider runs the orchestration. External NLU providers belong to the separate intent based Autopilot, and connecting a third party bot swaps out the whole agent, so neither path gives a customer a model choice inside the agentic runtime. The built in Simulator runs chat and voice conversations against an orchestration from the canvas before a new version is published. Builders inject application inputs of up to 5,000 characters to reproduce context a Studio flow would pass, then type messages or run Test Scripts: multiturn conversations entered in sequence or uploaded as JSON, or a script generated from a described scenario and goal, which teams keep for regression testing. Each reply opens an Insight view of the tool calls and knowledge lookups made and the coordinator's routing reasoning. Voice tests vary line quality, language detection, voice, end of speech sensitivity, speaking speed and phrase lists. Scored Agent Evaluation is a separate preview for select customers. Recent platform changes
Authentication Gate, new in the Talkdesk AI Agent Platform, blocks access to sensitive Sub Agents and Skills until the customer session is authenticated. Admins define the authentication conditions with fixed or computed variables and apply them at the Sub Agent or Skill level, and unauthenticated requests are routed to the company's own authentication flow before they reach the LLM.
