Brightwave
Agentic AI research platform for investment professionals that runs fleets of autonomous agents to synthesize filings, transcripts, news, and deal documents into source cited analyst reports.
Brightwave is an agentic AI research platform built for investment professionals, from owner operated registered investment advisers to multi billion dollar hedge funds, private credit investors, and some of the world's largest asset managers. Launched in early 2024 and based in New York City and Boulder, Colorado, it was co-founded by chief executive Mike Conover, who created the open source Dolly model at Databricks, and Brandon Kotara, former chief technology officer of the derivatives exchange LedgerX.
The platform synthesizes analysis across hundreds of millions of documents, including Securities and Exchange Commission filings, earnings call transcripts, sell side research, breaking news, expert network calls, investment memos, and a firm's own internal notes and deal room materials. At its core is a proprietary knowledge graph that maps supply chain relationships, mergers, governance changes, and other factors that drive asset performance, paired with a reasoning engine that connects those dots into an investment thesis. Every claim carries sentence level attribution back to its primary source.
In 2025 Brightwave introduced Research Agents, letting users direct fleets of autonomous research workers from a single control plane, an approach the company likens to an integrated development environment for information. The system infers a research plan from a request, spawns long running workers that pursue open ended tasks without interrupting the user, and returns living documents that update as new data arrives. Report Builder and Blueprints let teams configure and instantly produce sharable reports across deal rooms, financial models, and proprietary notes.
Brightwave positions itself as a partner in thought rather than a chat box, letting analysts interactively steer the system's attention and blend their own judgment with machine scale reading. Its customer base spans funds and firms managing well over one hundred billion dollars in assets, and it has partnered with earnings data provider Quartr to combine public market data with private deal documents. The company has raised twenty one million dollars across seed and Series A rounds led by Decibel Partners, with participation from OMERS Ventures, Point72 Ventures, and Moonfire Ventures, and angel investors drawn from OpenAI, Databricks, and LinkedIn.

Use cases & customers
In practice
You need to get up to speed on an unfamiliar sector before a meeting. Brightwave reads across filings, transcripts, and news, then hands back a source cited briefing so you walk in prepared to lead.
Diligence on a private deal means cross referencing a data room against public signals. Brightwave analyzes deal documents alongside earnings and market data, flagging sentiment shifts and risks a manual review would likely miss.
An analyst covering two hundred companies cannot read everything. Brightwave spawns autonomous research agents that monitor and synthesize new information continuously, freeing the analyst to focus on sharpening high conviction investment theses.
