The Planning Agent, announced in September 2026 as the Autonomous Planning Agent and now part of FP&A Plus, runs budgeting, planning and reforecasting cycles through skills, each a chain of Prophix actions run in order as one unit. Skills Manager builds them from a fixed set of step types that update filters, add or update a version, publish or refresh a model, run a process, update an ad hoc layout or validate templates, and any step can be set to depend on another.

Once a skill is configured, the agent carries it from start to finish on a prompt or a schedule. The first release covers financial models and the personnel and currency models tied to them. Copilot routes every other request to the agent or assistant the user picks, and Prophix's broader workflow module coordinates the people side of budgeting and the close.

Insights sends AI written summaries on the schedule a team sets, weekly, monthly or quarterly, to the people it chooses, and automated agents rerun recurring analyses without being asked. Planning Agent skills can also run on a schedule set in Skills Manager, with a time zone, a start time, start and end dates and a recurrence such as monthly or quarterly. With Run without Review switched on, a scheduled skill starts by itself at that time and no reminder goes out.

Within Copilot, each exchange adds to a running session history that survives a switch to another agent or assistant until the user clears the chat. Chat History keeps every earlier conversation for the agent selected, and any of them can be reopened and resumed. The Prophix MCP server gives each FP&A Plus instance its own endpoint URL in the Portal. Claude, ChatGPT and other standard clients sign in over OAuth 2.1 with PKCE using a public client, and Microsoft Copilot uses a confidential client with a secret.

Its tools list models, dimensions, members and their properties, pull cell values, report layouts and period comparisons, query Detailed Planning records and run sums, means, variances and correlations, all within the user's own Prophix permissions.
