Adonis vs Akasa (2026)

Adonis and AKASA both sell AI for the healthcare revenue cycle, and both take payer status checks off staff so people only work the accounts that need them. That verdict is the Agentic Index coverage score, graded from each vendor's own published materials.

They work on different parts of the cycle. AKASA sits in the hospital mid cycle. Its Coding Optimizer reviews every coded inpatient encounter before billing and shows each suggested code with clinical evidence, direct quotes and a confidence score. A coder approves every code before it applies. CDI Optimizer looks for documentation gaps, and AI Advisor answers revenue cycle questions with citations from live EHR data. At Methodist Health System, AKASA's Claim Status took 71 percent of accounts out of staff queues. Adonis works the back end for physician groups, specialty practices, RCM services firms and health systems such as Mount Sinai. Its Intelligence product watches claims, denials, AR and payer behavior for revenue leakage, underpayments included. Its AI Agents move routine claims forward on their own across appeal status inquiry, prior authorization, documentation needs, timely filing, coverage verification and unknown denial reasons. A third product, Orchestration, coordinates the two. ApolloMD saves more than 1,000 staff hours a month with Adonis. The people in the loop differ too. Adonis sends critical exceptions to the customer's own team through Smart Worklists. AKASA pairs its automation with its own revenue cycle experts, who interpret status results alongside machine learning. Accounts that need work go to queues for the customer's staff or for AKASA. Adonis connects to Epic, athenahealth, AdvancedMD, ModMed, NextGen, Availity and others, and its agents write updates back into the practice management system. AKASA connects to EHRs through an API, EDI or other standards based integrations. It builds a model for each health system, trained on that system's own clinical and financial data. Choose Adonis for denials, AR follow up and payer work across practices and health systems, and AKASA for prebill coding and documentation review in hospitals.

Choose Adonis if

  • Denials, underpayments and AR follow up are where revenue slips away.
  • Agents should move routine claims forward on their own while critical exceptions go to your team.
  • You run athenahealth, AdvancedMD, ModMed, NextGen or Epic, and agent updates should land in the practice management system.
  • Your organization runs physician groups, specialty practices or an RCM services business, not only hospitals.
  • Leaders want executive dashboards, drill down reports and alerts on revenue leakage.

Choose Akasa if

  • Every coded inpatient encounter should get a second review before the bill goes out, with findings ranked by DRG impact.
  • Coders should see the evidence, quotes and confidence behind each suggestion and approve every code.
  • Documentation integrity review should sit in the same product as coding.
  • AKASA's revenue cycle experts should share the authorization and claim status work with your staff.
  • Security review calls for HITRUST CSF certification and SOC 2 Type 2.
